Public statistics
First of all
Polish Statistical Office (GUS) offers a variety of general indicators concerning salaries and also labour market as a whole. It is worth noting that GUS when publishing information about salary often refer to
salaries in the enterprise sector (wynagrodenia w sektorze przedsiębiorstw) which includes only companies employing at least 10 people and does not include data from public administration, public education or health system. The enterprise sector is part of the indicator called
salaries in national economy (wynagrodzenia w gospodarce narodowej) which includes also public sector and the value of this indicator is lower. It is also less frequently published. From the perspective of a business it is better to look at salaries in enterprise sector.
Same public data can be reached also through other databases like
Eurostat. Still it is worth to remember that data origins back to Polish Statistical Office, which in our opinion do a decent and fully reliable job. It also provides the data in user friendly manner.
Crowdsource data
What about the situation if you are not interested in general data? Many companies want to find information about salaries in Warsaw, Cracow, Poznan and other cities in Poland. They are interested in salaries on certain positions like consultant, salesman, IT specialists etc.
A crowd source data can be helpful. As wynagrodzenia.pl we gather data from approximately 100 000 people a year. The easiest access is through the
Moja płaca. The data intended reader is private person.
Information provided by job advertisement providers
Other possible source of data is salary information provided in job advertisement. This is a practice especially present in IT industry. A good example is
No Fluff Jobs.
Some data can be also found at
pracuj.pl website which is one of the biggest job advertisement portal.
Business salary survey
The best possible data source are business salary surveys conducted by analytical companies on the data reported directly from the companies. In Poland there are 2 main Polish companies: Sedlak
& Sedlak (us) with the webpage
raportyplacowe.pl and ManaHR. Each company do survey among approximately 1000 business entities.
We also have a strong presence of multinational companies like Korn Ferry Hay, WTW or Mercer. There sample usually consist of more multinational companies. The advantage of salary surveys is that they are undertaken among companies who have mature HR and C&B policies and can be treated as a good benchmark point. In a good survey one may find over 400 positions which usually are divided into job families, career streams and positions level.
A good salary survey will also provide information about employee benefits in Poland. Please keep in mind that different nations/cultures have different understanding of the term benefits. A good example is paid sick leave, which in Poland is mandatory by law and is provided by every employer. Same apply to basic pension scheme.
